Bangladesh SSC/HSC optional (4th) subject grading — a failed optional subject never fails the student, and GPA now applies the national 4th-subject bonus consistently across result cards, transcripts, and the student app.
Results now follow the Bangladesh SSC/HSC optional (4th) subject rules. A weak or failed optional subject never fails the student; instead it contributes an optional bonus — only the grade points above 2.00 count — which is added to the compulsory grade points and divided by the number of compulsory subjects. GPA is capped at 5.00, and any failed compulsory subject still results in GPA 0.00 (F).
Alongside the standard GPA, a compulsory-only "without 4th subject" GPA is now calculated, giving a clear picture of performance with and without the optional-subject bonus.
The new optional-subject calculation is shared through the grade engine and applied everywhere results appear — the admin result card and Academic Transcript, the teacher result view, and the student mobile API — so every surface reports the same, correct GPA.
Result cards and transcripts now flag which subject is the optional one, so the GPA treatment is transparent at a glance.
A misconfiguration guard handles an exam with no compulsory subjects — every subject is counted rather than dividing by zero or silently reporting an empty result as passed — keeping GPA output robust against unusual exam setups.
The Phoenix theme's About quote now uses normal margin-based flow instead of absolute positioning, so it lays out correctly at every screen size without needing a separate mobile override.
